IBM's Car Configurator Assistant

How can you transform your car buying experience with natural language customization and immersive 3D visualization?

Challenge

Some people love vehicle configurators but most people are overwhelmed by the linear and long configuration journeys with lots of interdependent options. One seemingly small change can cause a whole cascade of others. Without assistance or extensive knowledge this complicates the decision-making process and diminishes their overall buying experience.

Solution

IBM teamed up with Monkeyway to create a configurator assistant that allows users to personalize their dream vehicle in natural language and visualize the changes in immersive 3D visualisation. Through the power of watsonx LLM, website visitors can simply ask for the option with the highest resale value or the configuration of their favorite influencer, and the assistant makes multiple changes in realtime. There is no request too simple or too complex.

Benefit

Based on the conversation flow, the assistant can recognize customer preferences and make personalized suggestions for up- and cross-selling features. Of course there will still be people who like the linear click journey with multiple options but now the other part of the users can create, share and shop their dream car with just a prompt.
